1910: Agnes Gonxha Bojaxhiu is born to Albanian parents in Skopje, Ottoman Empire (present-day North Macedonia).
1928: Agnes joins the Sisters of Loreto, a religious congregation of nuns dedicated to education and missionary work.
1929: Agnes travels to Darjeeling, India, for her novitiate training.
1931: Agnes takes her final vows as a Sister of Loreto and is given the name Teresa.
