Due to a power outage on the Morgan Draw, NJ Transit assigned Bombardier ALP-45DP locomotives to all four weekend sets on the North Jersey Coast Line in order to run trains over the bridge, despite it being the location of a phase gap. The sets ran in diesel mode between Woodbridge and Long Branch; the mode change was done in Woodbridge as I rode 7240 just a few minutes later. It is unusual to have a dual mode in diesel mode on this section of the Coast Line east of Long Branch, especially one that’s facing New York Penn.
