PUNJABI MUTTON CURRY | HOW TO MAKE PUNJABI STYLE MUTTON CURRY
Punjabi Mutton Curry is one of the most popular non-vegetarian delicacies in India relished as a side dish.
Most of the Punjabi curries call for three important ingredients - freshly ground Garam Masala powder, Kasuri methi (dry fenugreek leaves) and Ghee (clarified butter). These ingredients make their curries very flavorful and tasty. Rest of the process is simple, marinated mutton will be cooked in onion tomato gravy. This Punjabi Mutton Curry goes best with plain chapati (Indian flatbread) or rice. Do give this recipe a try and let me know how it turned out for you.
Ingredients :
600 gms Mutton washed, cut into medium size pieces
½ tsp Turmeric Powder
½ tsp Red Chilli Powder
½ tsp Garam Masala Powder
½ tsp Salt
1 tbsp Ginger Garlic Paste
4 tbsp Curd well beaten
Fried Onion (made of 1 medium Onion)
1 tbsp Oil (in which onions were fried)
For the Paste to be fried & blended :
4 tbsp Vegetable Oil
1 Bay Leaf
10 to 12 Black Peppercorns
4 Cloves
2 Dry Red Chillies
2 Cinnamon Sticks
1 Black Cardamon
4 medium size Onions sliced
1 tbsp Ginger Garlic Paste
4 Green Chillies
2 medium size Tomatoes roughly chopped
½ cup Water
For the Gravy :
4 tbsp Ghee
1 Cinnamon Stick
4 Cloves
10 to 12 Black Peppercorns
½ tsp Coriander Seeds
½ tsp Turmeric Powder
½ tsp + ½ tsp Garam Masala Powder
1 tsp Kashmiri Red Chilli Powder
1 tbsp Coriander Powder
1 tsp Meat Masala (can use any brand)
½ tsp Salt
500 ml Water
1 tsp Kasuri Methi (roasted & handcrushed)
2 to 3 tbsp Coriander Leaves finely chopped
