A veterinary clinic in a Polish border city is treating wounded animals and pets from Ukraine.
Vets are now opening a new warehouse in Przemysl, and volunteers are invited in the evening to visit and provide some loving human interaction with the pets.
Over 2.2 million Ukrainian refugees fled to Poland from the Russian invasion. But animals from Ukraine are now being treated and sheltered in the village of Przemysl at the polish Ukrainian border.
Some of these pets spent days at the Poland-Ukraine border.
The evacuation of the animals was dangerous but was made possible due to the efforts and cooperation of several animal rights groups and Ukraine refugees.
"They have no food, no water, they are exhausted, with injuries, with bone fractures, after accidents and gunshots, so this help is needed as soon as possible," Dr. Jakob Kotowicz, a vet at the ADA center, said.
Kotowicz said new centers were created with the help of international animal rights groups in Przemysl to adopt and to treat the sick and wounded pets.
Convoys are transporting animals that were gathered in Lviv and were evacuated from different cities in Ukraine.
Dr. Redeslew Fediczynsk appealed the world to help the animals from Ukraine.
After more than four weeks of conflict, around 4 million people were displaced to the neighbouring countries and 6.5 million people were displaced internally inside Ukraine. The United Nations has confirmed 1,119 civilian deaths and 1,790 injuries across Ukraine but says the real toll is likely to be higher.
