Partial collapse test of a precast concrete structure performed as part of the Endure project:
- The building remained standing after removal of two columns.
- Partial collapse occured after removal of a third column.
There was no failure propagation and the building did not collapse completely.
This test shows that continuity and segmentation can be combined. In the event of failure indicated by current codes-guidelines, there exists continuity.
In situations in which failure propagation is inevitable, the building is segmented and complete collapse does not occur.
