The National Council of Education Research and Training- NCERT in its latest round of changes has dropped references of demolition of Babri Masjid in Ayodhya, the killings of Muslims in Gujarat riots, the reference of Manipur violence and clarifying India’s stand on Jammu and Kashmir. This is for the textbooks of classes 11 and 12.The changes made by the NCERT do not yet reflect in the online textbooks, but reports say that the textbooks will be updated soon. NCERT said that content has been updated as per the latest developments in politics. NCERT has stated the reason for revising text on Ayodhya is that it has been revised because of the latest changes brought by the Supreme Court’s constitutional bench verdict. For Gujarat riots, NCERT gave clarification that this incident is 20-years-old and it has been resolved through the judicial process. For dropping reference of Muslims killed post-Godhra riots, NCERT said, “In any riots people across communities suffer. It cannot just be one community.
