A quick guide to some commercial and military freeze dried MRE style packets, obviously follow the instructions on the individual packets if they are different but most are pretty similar.

You may or may not get a chemical based heater with the packet, if not you need warm, hot, boiling water to have a hot meal.

These particular packets don't have fill lines so you need to use common sense or a measuring jug to fill them properly, as if you don't you'll end up with a soup rather than a proper meal, still tasty but not really as it's intended to be eaten.
