The 2017 IET SA/NT PATW presentations given by each of the young professionals were well prepared and entertaining. A summary synopsis of each presentation is provided with a relatively low-quality video of the presentation.
The title of Rahul's presentation was "Project Power: Developing an Off-grid Computer Lab". First world countries take access to grid-supplied electricity for granted. Developed countries consider grid electricity supply as an essential service. But in many developing countries, very few have access to grid electricity supply. For example, only 30.1% of Cambodians have access to grid electricity supply. "Project Power" researches, designs and develops low cost, high quality, easy to use stand-alone renewable power solutions for off-grid applications tailored for remote communities in developing countries. One key objective is to empower the local community in the operation and maintenance of the off-grid solution. "Project Power" provides easy to understand training and documentation to enable local members of the community to operate and maintain the solution, and to train other members of the local community. "Project Power" is proud to be helping the local communities create education, business and employment opportunities with each and every system installed.
