Britannia Hotel was founded in 1870 and has a rich history, including serving royalty and dignitaries. The hotel reopened in April 2019 after a dramatic renovation totaling 150 million. As a member of The Leading Hotels of the World, the hotel features 5-star service, 257 rooms, four restaurants, a Michelin star, 2 bars, 12 conference and meeting spaces, and a large spa. Trondheim was the original capital of Norway, founded by Viking King Olav Tryggvason in 997. Today, it is the third-largest city in Norway and offers numerous outdoor activities and historical attractions.
Whether the trip goes to Trondheim for romance, culinary experiences, culture, or simply for the job, the hotel rooms and suites complete the journey. The hotel rooms, restaurants, bars, spa, fitness department, and cultural events give you the total comfort you expect from an international hotel. But, of course, hotel breakfast in the venerable Palmehaven is included regardless of the hotel room!
Britannia Hotel is a restaurant house, a destination in itself, whether you prefer fine dining, afternoon tea, or more casual dining. There are six different food and drink concepts if you look for restaurants in Trondheim, regardless of the occasion.
Playroom - A Michelin-starred restaurant. Christopher Davidsen led Britannia and the Mirror Hall to his first Michelin star with a continuous search for culinary perfection at the highest level. The team is incredibly proud of its highly regarded recognition as a Michelin restaurant. In the Mirror Hall, you will experience a food journey where the finest, hand-picked ingredients are prepared with care and respect. Nothing is left to chance; good taste is central to the experience. Christopher is the official world champion in culinary arts and the Bocuse d 'Or silver medalist in 2017. Speilsalen is his first signature restaurant, and just under a year after the opening, he and the rest of the Speilsalen team at Britannia were awarded a Michelin star.
A gastronomic experience out of the ordinary. Look forward to a visit to the Mirror Hall, where everything is arranged for a gastronomic experience out of the ordinary. The dedicated team always strives for the best. It looks forward to serving you full performance, a tasteful journey with Norway's best ingredients, interspersed with vibrant flashes of light from the wide world over 12-16 servings. Head Sommelier Nikolai Haram Svorte will ensure that the food gets the perfect accompaniment in the glass, either through one of Speilsalen's carefully selected wine menus or bottles from the hotel's rich wine cellar.
Brasserie Britannia - Urban and elegant Brasserie Britannia is inspired by the best brasseries in Paris and Lyon, with a bit of an American twist - in the middle of Trondheim. Here, you can come to drop into an informal place with a high pace, good food, and a pleasant atmosphere from morning to evening, as it should be in an authentic brasserie. This brasserie in Trondheim is where you can visit an excellent barista coffee and today's fresh pastries in the morning or a quick and tasty lunch with good colleagues. On the evening and lunch menus, you will find all the delicious classic French dishes you expect and a rich selection of accompanying drinks. In the busiest corner of Britain, everyone is always welcome.
The Wine Bar - There is an exclusive selection in the wine bar. The rich wine bar in Trondheim, which has 10,000 bottles of wine, is built by wine experts who have traveled around for almost two years to fill it with exciting wines from around the world. You will find wines in the middle of Trondheim, not on the open market. In addition, a wide selection of wines in all price ranges by the glass is offered. In other words, there is wine here for both experts and beginners. So take the trip down and let the skilled sommelier find the right wine for you and your taste, accompanied by delicious cured meats and cheeses.
Delicacies from the Wine Bar – The new deli concept includes homemade products from all over Britannia and exclusive and exciting products worldwide. Here, you can buy Brasseriet's onion soup and umami burger, the power you can use for sauces, risotto, and stews at home, duck confit, homemade jams from Palmehaven's breakfast and Afternoon Tea, dry ripened meat from Jonathan Grill, Speilsalen's caviar, freshly baked bread from the bakers, self-developed cheeses such as Britannia Blå - made with Gangstad Gårdsysteri and hams and sausages that are cut for you a la minute.
