The weather has turned a corner but unfortunately that corner was back towards winter. Cold air sweeps up New Zealand during Monday and Tuesday with snow expected over the highest parts of both Islands and even down to near sea-level in the far south.
Two Heavy Snow Watches are in place, one for Southland and Southern Otago with the heaviest snow above 300m and the other for Taihape on Tuesday afternoon with the heaviest snow above 700m.
Auckland is in for a blustery few days with strong south-westerly winds brings showers or spells of rain, with thunderstorms in the mix for Monday.
