United States Marines in Iwo Jima, Japan during World War II. Two Marines examine a DUKW (an amphibious truck) named Betty Jane on the beach. Severely damaged DUKW with shrapnel holes on it. Field Howitzer battery in position at the beach. A 2nd Battalion Marine loads shells into the battery. The howitzer being fired. The shell cases spread on the ground and Marines in the gun emplacement in the background. Location: Iwo Jima. Date: February 21, 1945.
