Growing potatoes through Autumn and into Winter to harvest at Christmas is a 'big ask' if your Christmas falls in Winter. Conventionally potatoes are planted in Spring when frosts are behind us and the days are getting longer and warmer as we move through Summer to harvest. Potatoes grown to harvest at Christmas are planted at the back end of Summer to grow through Autumn and Winter for a Christmas harvest. The problem is days getting shorter and colder, nights especially. Attempts by me have all ended in failure as the potato plant succumbs to the elements. Artificial heating and lighting in a greenhouse or polytonal would be costly with no guarantee of success. Good luck if you do 'give it a go'.
