Hit the sack has nothing to do with boxing or any other form of sport.
To ‘hit the sack’ simply means that it’s time to go to bed. You can change this to ‘Hit the hay’.
If you have children you can tell them that it is time for ‘Beddy byes’, or that it’s time to go ‘Up the wooden hill to Bedfordshire’.
