Not many cities have their very own signature cocktail. So when we visited Singapore, we knew we had to taste the Original Singapore Sling at the place it was invented—The Raffles Hotel Long Bar—to see if it lives up to the hype.
It does.
Yes, the drinks are expensive in Singapore (The Original Singapore Sling cost S$33 / The Raffles 1915 Gin Sling S$28), but we can confidently say that both of these 105-year old cocktail recipes are boozy and delicious. You probably only need to order one.
If you're a mixologist or cocktail enthusiast, visit the historic Raffles Hotel Long Bar for a literal taste of history. It was a highlight of our visit to Singapore and well worth the splurge!
In 1915, Raffles bartender Ngiam Tong Boon invented the famous Singapore Sling cocktail. This tasty concoction consists of gin, pineapple juice, lime juice, curaçao Bénédictine, grenadine, and cherry liqueur. The quality of ingredients greatly dictates the tastiness of this drink. Raffles presents the best version.
