Inspired by the music of Willie Tea Taylor (look him up!) I decided that I needed to buy a tenor guitar and write with this new instrument. I fell in love with a 1950's Gibson tenor (most tenors will be vintage guitars since they are of an era). Then I remembered that I already had a guitar like that: this 1945 Patrician archtop.

I restrung it by shifting the strings over one slot, so the tension would be balanced, which left both e-string slots and tuning pegs open. To keep the finger positioning the same, you could leave them where they are and just take off the two lowest strings.

A problem I has was with rattling tuning pegs, since stings didn't maintain tension. That's why I tied the leather lace around the pegs.

A tenor guitar could be tuned many ways but I chose to make it mirror the 6-string I usually play so I could discover some new chord voicings and transfer them over. For a chord chart, you can find the under "tenor guitar chord chart" or you could use the shapes you'd use on ukulele chord charts (though the names would be different).
