So my wife wanted me to build her a Mantel. So I decided on this easy DIY version of a Rustic Faux Beam Mantel and i was able to purchase all the materials for under $30 You can easily scale this down and make a set of shelves with the same process. It will really set off your dull fireplace and add an attractive focal point in the room.
