A simple design for a low-cost box scraper constructed from wood and steel. I used wood for the frame to save money, adding steel only where required. The driveway only needs to be scraped once or twice a year, so an expensive design did not seem to make sense. I put five ripper tines on this model, three would probably be sufficient. Much lighter tines would probably work just as well. These are extremely heavy-duty blades, but were only a few dollars more than the smaller tines. At some point I'll rebuild this with channel iron along the back of the ripper support frame, this frame is a little light when all five blades are engaged.
There are several enhancements that could be added, such as adjustable wheels or lift linkage on each side to change the scraping angle and make movement from the storage area to the driveway easier. Another nice feature would be adding adjustment screws at each blade to fine tune the cutting depth. At this point I just wanted to build something quick that would eliminate the deep ruts in the driveway.
