When I was a medical student I didn't do an Emergency Medicine rotation until my 4th year of medical school. I ended up scrambling to get away emergency medicine rotations, emergency medicine clerkships, and letters of recommendation. I really wish I knew more about Emergency Medicine during my early years of medical school.
I was fortunate to match into an amazing Emergency Medicine Residency program. And now with over 10 years of practicing as an Emergency Medicine Physician, here are some of the things I really love (and don't love) about Emergency Medicine. I hope this can help medical students or pre-med students consider Emergency Medicine earlier in their career path!
