I've been meaning to dust off my old Helios 44-2 for a while now after seeing some amazing footage when paired with the RED Komodo and Canon 0.71x speed booster, so I thought a fitting winter break to Longleat would be the perfect opportunity to play around with it. Needless to say, I think the footage from this lens speaks for itself. Slightly tricky to use without all the new features you see in modern day lenses, but my god is it worth it. So much character, and couldn't have asked for a more perfect crisp early morning.
Shot at Centre Parks, Longleat, UK over the course of 2 hours as the sun was rising. No filters, just a Tiffen VND (with about 5000 step up rings) and all shot at 6K 17:9 LQ at 40fps and downscaled to 4K in the edit. Graded using Phantom LUTs and a sprinkling of dehancer for a touch of film emulation, all in premiere pro (beleive it or not! hah).
