These engines are known for tossing rocker arms. At the making of this video, I had yet to determine the cause. The engine in the video has tossed #2 and #4 Exhaust rocker arms several times (3 I think). The last time I replaced the lash adjusters (or lifter) with a factory original lifter and replaced the rocker arms also. It went about 3 months and came back to the shop with #2 exhaust rocker arm off. This time I placed a .085 inch thick washer under the lash adjuster figuring this will remove half of it's ability to collapse and hopefully prevent this from reoccurring, which it ultimately did. Since then, I discovered several other 4.7's with mis-machined lifter pockets IE: machined too deep causing the lifter to be near fully extended, and allowing the rocker to flip off on a cold start (before the lifter pumps up). The washer trick has solved every such case !
