The Golden Circle is a famous Road Trip in the southern part of Iceland. Its official name is Gullni hringurinn, which is Icelandic for Golden Circle. This route is about 300 kilometers long. It runs from the capital Reykjavik to the southern highlands and back. You can find an unprecedented amount of sights on a small piece of volcanic land. These are the most beautiful places to visit on your tour of the Golden Circle.

This route is very popular among tourists. Think of people with little time as well as nature lovers who do the longer Road Trip across the island. The Golden Circle hosts at least three absolute attractions of Iceland. But there is more to see. Think of waterfalls, national parks, steep canyons, volcanic craters and more.

You can drive this route in various ways. And of course stop at the places you want to see. The list of attractions is long, although only the absolute highlights are often mentioned. But there is much more to see. I drove the Golden Circle clockwise.
