The first half of the story is about Claudine Umurutaste. She was born in Congo and moved to Rwanda to escape the civil war between two tribes Hutu and Tutsi.
In 2014, she came to U.S.A seeking a better life after living 17 years in a refugee camp.
The second part of the story is about how Keene is helping immigrants to adapt and live in a new society.
