CINCINNATI (WKRC) – There is a new word of caution on Monday when it comes to alcohol and your health.
While some alcohol is good, researchers in the Journal Lancet Today announced that “more is not better”.
Even one drink extra per day above the recommended five a week can shorten your lifespan, and apparently quite a bit.
One extra glass of beer, wine or anything else with alcohol is associated with a half-hour reduction in the expected lifespan of someone just 40 years old.
It also appears to up the odds of not just death, but a fatal aneurysm, heart failure and a stroke.
Researchers came to this conclusion after reviewing 83 studies of more than 600,000 people who were drinkers in 19 different countries.
They found life expectancy goes down, as alcohol intake goes up.
