This February 6, 2020 Black History Month program of film/discussion celebrates the life of black CA gold rush hero James Beckwourth. This unheralded figure will be presented to publics of both youth and adults in the historically black neighborhood of Oak Park Sacramento. This project is being sponsored by the local group ‘Unsung Heroes Living History Project” and it will take place at the venue of the Brickhouse Community Gallery in Oak Park. Award-winning filmmaker Robert Lee Grant will present his one hour film about Beckwourth plus Q & A, and manage and promote this important community project.
