Today we're going to be taking a look at the Brophy rope tie-down anchor. The anchor's going to provide an attachment point for securing tie-downs such as ropes, bungees and straps. This is going to be ideal for use in trailers and truck beds. It can also be used on a variety of other applications. You can see here that it has a nice pivoting design so it is able to rotate. It's going to lay down flat when it's not being used, so it's not going to take up much space.
Another neat thing about the pivoting design, it allows straps to be connected at almost any angle. This is a bolt-on installation, hardware is not included, so that will need to be provided separately. The unit's made from a stainless steel construction so it's going to be rust-proof and corrosion resistant. A few measurements I want to go over with you real quick, starting with the outer ring dimensions. This D-ring is going to measure 3/8 of an inch thick. We'll measure the overall width of the unit from outer edge to outer edge.
That's going to give us a measurement of about 2-1/4 inches, and the overall height of the unit from outer edge to outer edge is also going to measure about 2-1/4 inches. If we measure the inside area as if it was installed, just like this. We're going to measure the height that we would have. Basically taking a look at the usable space. That's going to give us a measurement of about 1-5/16 of an inch.
The internal width, usable space, that's going to measure about 1-1/2 of an inch. This is going to be our mounting bracket. It's going to give us an overall length measurement of about 3-1/2 inches long, with an overall width measurement, that's gong to measure 1-3/16 of an inch wide. You can see here that it has two mount holes on it. Those are going to be separated on center by 2-1/4 inches. I did take a measurement of the size of those mount holes.
It's a square design. They're going to measure 7/16 of an inch by 7/16 of an inch. This unit's going to feature a safe working load limit of 1,600 pounds, with a maximum load or break strength of 5,000 pounds. Please keep in mind that tie-down anchors must be chosen according to their safe working load limit. The weight of the secured cargo must not exceed the combined working load limit of the anchors being used. That's going to do it for today's look at the Brophy rope D-ring tie-down anchor.
