When given a prototype for this Santa Cruz model, Doc Watson remarked, “this is the Dreadnought I’ve been looking for all my life.” We couldn’t agree more. This absolutely stunning take on the classic dreadnought was built with hot hide glue construction, and sports an Adirondack top, Adirondack braces, and mahogany back and sides. The guitar includes snakewood body binding, as well as a snakewood headstock overlay.
This Vintage Artist is extremely responsive, with rich rumbling lows and articulate highs. It’s an absolute joy to play, and responds well to a flatpick, and while it is undoubtedly a bluegrass cannon, it is also well-suited to a wide variety of playing styles.
