This 2019 ZR1 had base seats and base aero...The ZTK aero car has stiffer spring rates, different calibrations across the board... It was honestly very hard to drive this car at the limit with the stock belts, manual and non comp seats. I've done a 2:15 optimal in stock comp seats with harnesses in Z06s. The competition seats are truly worth it... learned that the hard way as you can see, I basically gave up. I'm bracing myself in a way that I haven’t experienced since my 2015 Z07 test... this car holds some serious G loads. Especially when you’re on Hoosier R7s with a stock seat belt and base seats!
Now for ZR1 talk, what is different and new for the C7 from my seat: The ELSD is working differently, delaying power down more than the Z06s, more torque management in the manual LT5 car. The non ZTK car is SOFT, lots of brake dive..you can hear the splitter smack the ground, lots of body roll... but we knew that, it's the street version. The car went to 271 oil temp by lap 2, the AAT's were hot...it's hot in Texas. I did notice the drag difference at 130MPH+... it keeps pulling in a different way than the LT4 cars. I'm sure it's a combo of power curve and less aero drag. The ZR1 didn't go much faster on the straights than the Z06/Z07.
The front feels heavier than the Z06, maybe that’s the softer springs I’m feeling but I know there’s more weight up front. I stopped my lap when I came up on my buddies doing lead and follow, that’s why I clipped the video to the start of my hot lap...which I bailed out of. I’ll give it another go after we add some mods. Car is a beast, no doubt. I’ll give it a proper lap when I get my hands on a ZTK car.
