Doctor Fate is one name of the several fictional superheroes who appear in DC Comics' American comic books. Doctor Fate is the name of several different characters in the DC Universe who are a series of sorcerers, and the figure has appeared in several forms. Gardner Fox and Howard Sherman designed the original incarnation of the character, which first appeared in More Fun Comics #55 in May 1940.
The character's Kent Nelson version has appeared in many DC-related media, including the television series Smallville, in which he is played by Brent Stait, and the upcoming DC Extended Universe film Black Adam, in which Pierce Brosnan will play him.
