Did you know that D.B. Cooper from Prison Break is actually a real-life story? There is a mystery surrounding Charles Westmoreland, a veteran prisoner in Fox River, for a large part of the first season. Although he didn't confirm it until just before his death during the Season 1 escape, when he showed Michael a $100 bill with a serial code matching that of the Cooper money and claimed to have $5 million rather than $1 million, before explaining where it would be found, there are strong rumors that this is, in fact, the infamous D.B. Cooper. The real crime committed by D.B. Cooper was to hijack a plane by showing a bomb to an air hostess. He then ordered the pilots to land, released all of the passengers, and demanded $200k in addition to food for the crew. He then took off and jumped out of a plane north of Portland with the cash. Eventually, he vanished without a trace.
