ABOUT WUSB
Website: www.wusb.fm
Studio: 631-632-6901
Office: 631-632-6828
WUSB-FM is Long Island’s most powerful noncommercial FM voice, serving the Island at 90.1 FM since 1977, from their studios in the Union Building of Stony Brook University. With the individual DJs and other staff being fully responsible for every minute of their own shows, the station’s all-volunteer staff of students, alumni, and community members is unique in the collaborative way they program without the restrictive play-lists of most other stations.
From the start, the station has featured a wide range of music from almost every genre, including the nation’s longest running Reggae programs, as well as being the broadcast home of SBU sports teams starting with the Patriots in the 1970s, and continuing with the Seawolves since their inception in the 1990’s.
Generously funded in the beginning by the undergraduate and graduate students of Stony Brook University, the station in recent years has come to depend ever more heavily on their annual radiothons and benefits like this one to raise the funds needed to continue their radio experimentation.
