Why are we seeing so much more euglycemic DKA after the introduction of SGLT2 inhibitors? In this video I will go over why so many more Type 2 diabetic patients are coming in with DKA when this disease process was previously much more predominantly seen in Type 1 diabetic patients. I will briefly review the pathophysiology of DKA (it's a helpful thing to review imo!) and then we will see how SGLT2 inhibitors end up playing a role to create a relative insulin deficiency leading to euglycemic DKA!
