Discovery island is located on Bay Lake in Orlando, FL. The island was once a public place for guests where they could observe many exotic animals and species of birds.
The island opened on April 8th, 1974 and eventually closed it's doors 25 years later on April 8th, 1999. There are many speculations on why Discovery Island closed, but mainly due to the opening of Animal Kingdom, leading to a low attendance and eventually the demise of Discovery Island.

I want the viewer to really experience and feel what it's like just getting to the island itself. Navigating the island is a small part of the trip, preparing beforehand along with improvising was a constant struggle... from my experience, the island was what I can only describe as exploring 'The Twilight Zone.'
