Try this indulgent high protein, low sugar cake. Ideal for any celebration or as a dessert treat. Curb those sugar cravings with a healthier alternative to high sugar, calorie dense confectionaries.
Ingredients For the cake
3 medium eggs (2 egg whites, 1 whole egg)
4 tablespoons sugar-free apple sauce
100 ml almond milk, or cow's milk
200 gram cake flour
125 gram chocolate USN BlueLab 100% Whey Protein
85 gram baking cocoa
1 tablespoon baking powder
For the icing
200 grams low-fat cream cheese
20 grams chocolate BlueLab® 100% Whey Protein
1 tablespoon baking cocoa
Instructions
Preheat oven to 175°C.
Beat two egg whites until stiff. Whisk 1 whole egg with applesauce and almond milk.
Mix flour, protein powder, cocoa and baking powder.
Add wet ingredients and mix briefly but vigorously to form a homogeneous dough. Fold in beaten egg whites.
Pour dough into a small silicone mould and smooth out.
Bake the cake for about 17 minutes - not too long, otherwise, it will be dry.
Let cool. Then decorate with frosting.
To do this, mix the cream cheese with protein powder and cocoa and spread it on the cake. Decorate with berries as desired.
