(17 Feb 2016) The identities of the second of three historic Powerball winners was unveiled Wednesday.
The Florida prizewinners are a married couple, David Kaltschmidt, 55, and Maureen Smith, 70.
Smith bought the winning ticket in January's historic Powerball jackpot, playing her own numbers, at a Publix supermarket in Melbourne Beach, Florida.
Kaltschmidt said he initially thought his wife was 'messing' with him when he spotted the prize-winning ticket the morning after the draw.
Kaltschmidt told reporters he intends to retire from Northrop Grumman after a 34 year career as a manufacturing engineer with the global security company.
Smith is a homemaker.
Smith and Kaltschmidt, who had moved to Florida in 1991, opted to take their winnings in one lump sum of $327 million, before taxes.
There were three winners of the $1.58 billion jackpot.
One ticket was bought in Tennessee, one in Florida and one in California.
The Tennessee winners, Lisa and John Robinson of Munford, have already claimed their share of the prize.
The California winner has not come forward.
Split three ways, each winning ticket will be allotted roughly $528 million.
