The Origin Ball functions as a Key Item and is used automatically when encountering Dialga or Palkia with a 100% catch rate. As a warning, the deity OPPOSITE of the team you choose during the story's climax will be the one obtained in the Origin Ball.
The Strange Ball exists in both BDSP and Legends: Arceus, it is currently unused in both, but we can speculate that it will be used when HOME compatibility arrives for both games in early 2022, as in BDSP while it currently has no item name, it appears when the Ball ID value is out of bounds.
(AKA a Ball ID value that doesn't match any other type of ball programmed into BDSP, potentially the proto-type Poké Balls found in the Hisui region.)
