hi everyone I'm Garrett from zip scanners where we make scanning easy today I'm going to compare the unit in SDS100 and it's fraternal twin the unit and SDS200 these are the two newest scanners on the market the SDS100 a handheld was launched in the summer of 2018 and the SDS200 a mobile base was launched in February of 2019
the SDS100 is as I've said many times it cannot stress enough our best-selling scanner the SDS200 is an updated base unit with the same functions as the SDS100 so I compare them well good question I'll try to answer that the best I can aside from the size and general look of the unit they're in the same ballpark and they're both grand salami 's the three main differences between the SDS100 and the SDS200 are also the three main reasons why the SDS100 is more popular than the 200 the obvious the SDS100 is a portable handheld and the best one on the market to boot the benefits of a portable receiver far outweigh the benefits of having a heavy anchored unit like the SDS200 the 100 has been out longer and there are there is more information and user reviews to consider when deciding on which unit to buy and ultimately owned for many years going forward it's a big investment and we want to make sure you're not surprised by any of the features and functions that either unit has or maybe doesn't have some of the tick's of the SDS200 are relatively unknown the recent SDS200 launch was affected by some of its first batch malfunctions which include a slight buzz in the internal speaker display blackouts and Transmisson transmission drops these malfunctions have since been tweaked and problem solved in the second batch but it's hard to trust a new product that has a reputation for being buggy with a high return rate we're here to ease you back into the new and exciting world of the SDS200 and maybe help you regain the confidence you may have lost in the newest of the new now we'll go through some of the similarities and differences in a little more detail the similarities both have 8 gigabyte SD cards the SD card is right here in the 200 and in the battery pack underneath the battery in the SDS100 both of these units use Sentinel the same programming software but if you're programming the unit yourself just make sure to change the target model under the tools tab in the software before pushing the programming to the scanner both have the same exact display options such as color customization black and white inverted etc the layout on the home screen for lack of a better term is exactly the same it starts out a little darker orange orange and yellow but you can also customize that as I said or go you know black and white you won't notice any differences in the menu and settings everything is a carbon copy of the original settings of the 100 I won't go through all of the similarities because I'd have to go through absolutely every everything and I don't want to take much more time away from your busy scanning schedule probably the biggest edition with the SDS200 is the land port for Ethernet connectivity which should help with streaming and general remote use from your PC and the SDS100 has a battery pack and the 200 has to be plugged into the wall like any other base model here's the see adapter just as a visual and besides that they're practically the same I mean it just really depends on whether or not you want to be portable or you want to be anchored if you have a good spot like a man cave or if you want to install it into your vehicle car radio style you can also do that it comes with mounting brackets and wiring harnesses and the like it's really your preference from bass to handheld most people prefer the handheld as 90% of our orders are handheld for obvious reasons portability lightweight scanning on the go and I think that's all I have for this video I hope you enjoyed this SDS100 SDS200 comparison or similarities video hit the like if you like and please subscribe to learn more I'm Garrett from zip scanners where we make scanning easy we're open 7 days a week you can call us at
