The 2024 national and provincial elections have been declared free and fair. This follows the Electoral Independent Commission releasing the official results at the National Results Operations Centre in Midrand, Johannesburg last night. In his address at the venue, President Cyril Ramaphosa said, "Through their votes, South Africans have demonstrated, clearly and plainly, that our democracy is strong, it is robust and it endures". This after the voter turnout in the election was 58.61%, representing 16.2 million South Africans who cast their ballots.
