The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recently warned against all cruise ship travel. So, it shouldn’t be a surprise that this past week the cruise lines have issued a number of updates and new cancellations. Don’t worry if you missed any of the announcements. We have the latest cruise cancellations and cruise ship updates for all the major cruise lines.

Carnival was the first major cruise line to cancel cruises into 2021. Now, the cruise line has issued an update cancelling all sailings through the end of February 2021. Also, Carnival has postponed the inaugural sailing of its newest ship, Mardi Gras, to April 2021.
Royal Caribbean also announced new cruise cancellations last week. The line has also postponed all sailings in the U.S. through the end of February. On a more positive note, the brand’s Quantum of the Seas completed its first successful sailing in Singapore with paying customers.
Norwegian Cruise Line also had a cruise update last week. This major cruise news included suspending most sailings through the end of March. Currently, only Norwegian Encore, Norwegian Joy, and Norwegian Escape are poised to begin sailings in March of 2021.
Royal Caribbean sister brand, Celebrity Cruises, also has cancelled cruises through the end of February 2021 as well. The cruise line also cancelled its complete winter program in Australia and Asia.
Additionally, both Holland America Line and Princess Cruises have further cruise ship cancellations as well. Both cruise lines have officially canceled cruises through the end of March 2021. The lines have also removed all sailings longer than 7 nights through November 2021. This is in line with the CDC's Conditional Sail Order limiting the length of cruises from U.S. ports.
In other major cruise updates, Disney Cruise Line announced late last week that it was suspending cruises on all four of its ships through February 2021. Likewise, MSC Cruises also made a similar announcement regarding its three ships sailing from Florida. Further, MSC Cruises is temporarily suspending cruises on MSC Grandiosa due to new travel restrictions in Italy.
Currently, Virgin Voyages has canceled cruises through the end of 2020; however, we are skeptical that its first planned cruise on January 3rd will actually sail given the current CDC Framework.
Viking Cruises was the first cruise line to voluntarily suspend cruise operations in March 2020. Now, the cruise line has officially canceled cruises through the end of January 2021. It is likely that further cancellations from the brand will be announced soon too.
