I apologize for the lower quality of this video which was captured from the balcony and a great distance from the performer as a home movie. However, the audience from the eastern Iowa region, Adam and the other performers had a wonderful time with music that weekend. Additional Muscatine videos will follow as time permits.
As a full time professional pianist, Adam may be contacted at his website.

Sixteen-year-old Adam Swanson performs "Bohemia Rag" composed by Joseph Lamb as one of the outstanding compositions of the ragtime era.
Adam was fortunate to perform in Hungary alongside the great Canadian pianist John Arpin in 2007. This version of "Bohemia Rag" that Adam shares was inspired by this very same John Arpin who was a great proponent of classic ragtime and jazz. While in Hungary, John was scheduled to play in a distant city and asked if anyone wished to go with him and his wife in the car. Fourteen-year old Adam jumped at the chance. According to John's wife, Adam talked with John continuously there and back!!!!!! Adam often performs this music to honor John and Joseph Lamb.
Later, Adam was selected to perform this elegant music for the composer's daughter Patricia Lamb at the Blind Boone Festival in Columbia, Missouri. The Blind Boone Festival had been organized for many years by the late Lucille Salerno. Years after the Blind Boone Festival ceased to exist, Adam was fortunate to visit with Lucille at the nursing home shortly before her passing. She was certainly an incredible lady.
Adam's performance was hosted by the First United Methodist Church of Muscatine, Iowa with a wonderful Steinway piano. Adam felt very fortunate to be recommended to the Arts Council by the international performing dynamic duet team "Ivory and Gold" which features Jeff and Ann Barnhart from Mystic, CT. Jeff and Ann were the headliners the weekend of these concerts. Other performances from Friday and Saturday night including piano duets with Adam Swanson and Jeff Barnhart may be found on YouTube.
At the time of this performance, Adam was a high school junior in Shenandoah, Iowa and a 3-time Youth World Champion Old Time Pianist and current Adult World Champion Old Time Pianist.
Jeff Barnhart and Bob Milne were the first musicians to ask Adam to perform on stage when Adam was 11 years old. Adam attended many Bob Milne concerts as a young pianist growing up in Michigan. Adam would soak up as much as he could from his seat in the audience. Often Bob would kindly invite Adam to the stage to perform one or two pieces to the delight of the audiences. This provided Adam with an opportunity to show Bob the new pieces he had learned and also motivated Adam to learn more difficult compositions before Bob's next concert.
By the time of this performance, Adam had studied piano with the professor of jazz at Michigan State University Rick Roe, Sarah Albright - wife of the late chairman of the Composition Department at the University of Michigan William Albright, classical pianist Walleed Howrani who was a graduate of The Moscow Conservatory and who had studied with classical pianist Emil Gilels, gold record pianist Johnny Maddox - whose classical piano teacher had studied with Franz List, Master Classes with Jeff Barnhart, and also benefited from the investment of many other generous mentors who shared their time and talents with him.
Adam subsequently earned a bachelor degree in Piano Performance at Fort Lewis College having graduated with highest honors. There he studied with Dr. Lisa Campi-Walters who earned her doctorate from The Eastman School of Music. Dr. Campi-Walter's teacher was a student of Arthur Rubinstein. Adam then earned a Masters Degree in Musicology at the Peabody Conservatory - Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, Maryland.
Adam has performed and lectured across the United States at such venues as Carnegie Hall, The Kennedy Center, as well as other countries such as Hungary, Switzerland and Australia.
Adam enjoys learning and sharing the history of music around the globe. He has a special way of making it interesting without feeling you are in a classroom.
As the Covid virus pandemic has resulted in the cancellation of his outside concert schedule, Adam performs weekly concerts on Facebook and YouTube on Sunday evenings at 6 PM Mountain time (8 PM Eastern time in the USA) from his home in Durango, Colorado and other local performances. He is eagerly awaiting the lifting of restrictions so he may resume performances and seminars across the country and around the world. Adam may be contacted through his website at [ Ссылка ] to purchase CD's and schedule performances and lectures.
