DR inertia wood splitter that I use for splitting fine logs for Russian fireplace. Makes short work of multiple passes. I had to extend wedge as it only accepted 16" logs and many of mine run up to 20+". The plunger stops 5" short which is sometimes an issue if the wood is "hairy". But I have a 4x4 pressure treated block that I can use to drive it home. Only needed once every 1 out of 100 times with the soft maple I am splitting. The one item I do not care for is that it engages ugly. I added a trailer ball for mass and this helps significantly. You also have to wear hearing protection as engaging is noisy. I believe the commercial machines spin significantly slower and do not have Acme threads on the rack, which might improve the system. I get my firewood from my parents and it is already roughly split. Although this machine could split any size if you take your time and whittle away at it. It will split a maple 12" log easily.
All in all, I like the system. Looking for a SuperSplit down the road.
