India is one of the countries worst affected by the coronavirus pandemic with health facilities in some areas under intense pressure. The virus is spreading into rural areas, many of which have high levels of poverty and limited medical resources.
Parts of the country have re-imposed lockdown restrictions, while others have chosen not to for economic reasons, despite evidence the virus is spreading rapidly.
India’s government insists it's seeing an encouraging recovery rate despite the rising number of infections.
