This rather hard-to-find track is not quite the same “Give A Little Whistle” version that’s included in the various Disney-authorized CD reissues. The 78 was part of a Victor album of songs and dialogue from the soundtrack of the animated Disney film “Pinocchio,” featuring the voices of Cliff Edwards (Jiminy), Dickie Jones (Pinocchio), and others.
The audio tracks for the film had been recorded back in 1938, well in advance of the film’s release in February 1940. By the time Victor assembled and issued this album in 1940, Cliff Edwards was under contract to the Decca label so his actual name could not be shown on any of these Victor sides. Over on Decca, Cliff and some of his label mates joined forces to create a competing “Pinocchio” song album made up of all new studio recordings accompanied by Victor Young and the Ken Darby Singers.
Transferred and digitally processed from the original 78rpm: Victor 26478 from Victor album P18 - Give A Little Whistle (Washington-Harline) “As originally sung by Jiminy Cricket and Pinocchio with Orchestra”
