Exploring the Mariana Trench or Mariana Trench, located 320 kilometers southwest of the Pacific island of Guam, began in 1875, and since then they have recorded ever greater depths. For the first time, British researchers established a depth of 8184 meters, and in 1951, with the help of more modern equipment — 10,863 meters.
