The post-mortem on the body of 20-year-old Anjali Singh revealed that her cranial cavity was open, her base of the skull was fractured, and her ribs were visible from the rear of her chest. The autopsy was performed by a team of three Maulana Azad Medical College physicians, and the preliminary cause of death was determined to be "shock and haemorrhage as a result of antemortem injuries to the head, spine, left femur, and both lower limbs." A total of 40 "antemortem external injuries"- mostly lacerated wounds, contusions, and abrasions are listed in the post-mortem report. The "brain matter" was "absent," according to the report, and the pleural cavity was "open with exposition of both lungs."
