Jill had daily headaches and jaw pain since she was 12 years old. She had consulted with orthodontists in Missouri, Kansas and Nevada. Each one of them advised her that her ONLY option is to surgically shorten the lower jaw to fit the upper jaw. They did not advise her of the consequences of such a surgery including reduced airway. Orthodontists typically feel that their role is to give straight front teeth for nice smile. . Most of them are unaware of the implications on airway or TM Joints. Jill liked her appearance and did not desire any changes.
Jill’s trusted chiropractor referred her for a TMD examination and later detailed neuromuscular tests. Only after phase 1 orthotic relieved her headaches and jaw pain, Jill chose PNFO/O as her phase II option. We moved her teeth to where they best aligned the jaw and neck.
