A study by Kimme Ng, MD, MPH, at Dana-Farber, shows African-Americans have lower levels of vitamin D in the blood and may need higher doses of vitamin D supplements to meet nationally-established goals. She adds it is very important that further research be done on vitamin D metabolism in this subgroup of our population.
