This recipe is from the Philippines. It makes the best rolls ever! They are wonderful fresh from the oven, eaten on its own, or with a little butter or jam. We tried them with salmon for our breakfast too and it was so good! If you haven't made pandesal and still looking for easy recipe you might enjoy this simple "all in one bowl" recipe.
This makes 24 pandesal
INGREDIENTS:
4 cup plain flour
1/2 cup water
1/2 cup milk
1/4 cup evaporated milk
1/2 cup sugar
1 egg (room temperature)
3/4 teaspoon salt
5 tablespoons softened butter
1 tablespoon oil
3 teaspoons yeast
breadcrumbs
PREPARATION:
1. Combine the water, milk and evaporated milk and warm in the microwave for 35 seconds. If you do it on stove, warm until hand hot.
2. Put all ingredients into a bowl except the breadcrumbs then mix until it forms a dough.
3. Cover it and let it rise in warm place for 1 hour.
4. When the dough is ready, scoop out a small amount make into balls.
5. Roll each ball in breadcrumbs then place on to a tray with baking paper.
6. Cover and leave to rise in a warm place until doubled in size.
7. Bake in 190°C oven for 10 to 15 minutes, until golden brown.
