On January 16, I got word that CN 3115, the BCOL heritage unit, would be leading CN train A492. At this point, every GE CN heritage unit had been to Michigan, but I had missed every one due to bad timing. When I heard this news, I couldn't resist and went up to Imlay City. Unfortunately, the train sat in Battle Creek for a good portion for the day without an available crew, setting the train far behind schedule. At 8:00, A492 was lined out of the Flint yard, so I raced up to Imlay City only to find red signals. At around 10:00, the eastbound signal finally upgraded. About 45 minutes later, a headlight appeared over the hill, however, it was Amtrak heading back to Port Huron. With A492 having to wait for Amtrak for 2 hours, this set the train even more behind schedule. At around 11:30, I decided to call it a night and go home when the eastbound signal upgraded to an approach. About a half hour later, I heard a horn in the distance, saw the headlight, and sure enough at exactly 12:00, A492 with 3115 on the point finally came. Despite the train coming so late, I was pretty glad to see this unit in person.
