(10 Feb 2018) The Israeli military have conducted a controlled explosion at the crash site of a F-16 fighter jet downed earlier on Saturday.
The Israeli military said a pilot was seriously injured and evacuated on Saturday to a hospital for medical treatment, after his F-16 jet came under Syrian fire.
The military said its planes faced massive anti-aircraft fire from Syria that forced the two pilots to abandon the F-16 jet that crashed.
A second pilot was lightly wounded.
The F-16 crashed near Harduf in northern Israel after facing heavy anti-aircraft fire.
The Israeli military then carried out what it called a "large scale attack" against Iranian and Syrian targets in Syria.
The military said it struck 12 targets including three aerial defense batteries and four Iranian targets that are part of Iran's military establishment in Syria.
The Israeli military also shot down an Iranian drone it said infiltrated the country before launching its "large-scale attack" on at least a dozen Iranian and Syrian targets.
