A fellow teacher, Mish, asked me to share the last time I experienced a blessing in disguise.

My name is Tino Trevor,

Today I’m talking about

the English idiom,

A Blessing In Disguise

and sharing the last time I experienced one.

Let’s get started.

The phrase a blessing in disguise refers to

something that seems bad or unlucky in the beginning,

however in the end it turns out to be something good.

Let me give you an example.

Earlier in the year I was offered a job in Sao Paulo, with a hefty paycheck

which also included a lot of travel.

Needless to say, I was very excited.

They wanted me to start at the beginning of March, but at my current job I was under contract until the end of June.

After going back and forth for a while, negotiations fell through and I ended up not getting the job.

I was upset at first, but just two months later it turned out to be a blessing in disguise.

Sao Paulo ended up becoming the epicentre for Covid-19 in Brazil,

the company I was considering working for ended up shutting down

and the company I currently work for, ended up extending my contract.

I really dodged a bullet there,

so you can see how that was a blessing in disguise.
